Open qualifiers for the Leipzig Major were underway for the European region and teams such as Nigma, OG Seed, Team Secret and Chicken Fighters were all in the final stretch to claim the two spots available in the closed qualifier.
Kuro ‘KuroKy’ Salahi Takhhasomi had finally returned to the Dota 2 scene, bringing Team Liquid into the qualifiers as Nigma and so far, they had made it to face off against another massive challenger – the team endorsed by The International 2019 winners, OG Seed. Unfortunately, only one of the teams would make it into the closed qualifier as they met in the semi-finals of the open qualifier. The series proved to be an absolute stomp with Nigma proving that even after a name change, a short break and a new update, they are still one of the strongest squads in Dota 2. Amer ‘Miracle’ Al-barkawi was at his best again with an unkillable Morphling in the first game followed by an almost unstoppable Chaos Knight. The 2-0 victory means that OG Seed would have to wait, like OG, for the third Major before they possibly make their showing on a main stage of Dota 2.
The other semi-final would be between the returning Team Secret and Chicken Fighters; the stack of Akbar ‘SoNNeikO’ Butaev. With Lasse ‘MATUMBAMAN’ Urpalainen now a part of the Secret roster, the team managed to play some meticulous Dota 2, keeping their opponent from ever getting ahead. Unfortunately for SoNNeikO’s stack, they would have to go back to the drawing board and possibly look toward the third Major of the season – although the European region is looking extremely tough to breach now.
With that, Secret and Nigma will be the two teams that join in at the closed qualifier for The Leipzig Major which includes the likes of Team Liquid and Alliance awaiting the battle. With three spots now available for the European region at the Leipzig Major, one of these teams is going to possibly looking towards the Minor.
