The European battle for a slot at the ESL One Los Angeles Major is looking spicy. The double TI champions are back from vacation and they are ready to crush their way to TI10. OG’s new roster had to go through open qualifiers, which they made look easy, but once they reached the closed qualifiers in what’s regarded as being the most stacked region, they kept on dismantling their opponents.

OG are seeded in Group B along with Alliance, Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Singularity, and they made quick work of both Alliance and NiP to grab four points and finish the day at the top of the group. Although they have just two players left standing from the back-to-back TI champion roster, OG are displaying the same perfect coordination and aggressiveness, their game plan seemingly not being changed at all. So far they’ve been allowed to crush each game with the two new heroes added to captain’s Mode, Void Spirit being now one of Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen’s new favorite toy, while Martin “Saksa” Sazdovis is enjoying Snapifre’s powerful spells. Perhaps the biggest surprise of OG’s games so far is Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng, who is making a very smooth transition to the offlane role and manages to steal the show with his plays.

Alliance are second in the group after the first day of games with one victory and one loss, while Team Liquid and Ninjas in Pyjamas need to come in strong on day two if they want to keep their Major hopes alive. Liquid are in third place with two draw results, while NiP are in fourth place with a loss and a draw. At the end of the group stage, the third placed team in each group will drop to the Minor qualifiers, while the bottom two teams from each group will get eliminated.

Just like OG dominated group B, Team Secret were unstoppable in group A, also ending the day with two clean victories and four points to their name. The situation looks grim for Nigma who are now third, after losing last night 0-2 to Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk’s stack Aggressive Mode. Nigma, Vikin.GG and OG.Seed are tied in group B with just one point secured so far. The group stage matches in Europe will resume today at 12:00 CET.
