It’s been a bit more than a year since Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) had a Dota 2 team. The last time the European organization was seen competing for a Dota 2 title was in June 2017 when they decided to close operations after a fairly long trail of sub-par results.
NiP adventured in Dota 2 for the first time back in 2015 when they signed the full Swedish roster LAJONS lead by Simon “Handsken” Haag and carried in battle by Adrian “Era” Kryeziu. Despite a decent start, the roster from back then didn’t make it to TI5 and by the end of November of the same year, NiP decided to shut down the Dota 2 division. In January 2017 Era and NiP made a second attempt at conquering the European region, but the results were once again underwhelming and the organization decided to disband the team even before the TI6 qualifiers.
They never made a comeback until now, when despite not officially announcing anything, it was revealed over the Majors registration website that NiP is making their third attempt in the Dota 2 field when Peter “ppd” Dager and a few of his new teammates registered under the Ninjas in Pyjamas tag.
Ninjas in Pyjamas roster from position 1 to 5:
– Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard
– Adrian “Fata” Trinks
– Neta “33” Shapira
– Martin “Saksa” Sazdov
– Peter “ppd” Dager
PPD’s stack was known until last night as Shangri-La, team tag used when they were announced as one of the four teams invited in the European closed regional qualifiers for the Kuala Lumpur Major.
