Beyond Epic: Europe & CIS had its group stage come to an end today with the teams clambering for a spot in the playoffs and trying to avoid either elimination or the lower bracket.

Team Secret played two separate series today at Beyond Epic and after their loss to Team Nigma yesterday, there was a small glimmer of hope for B8 and OG, who had to battle the squad today. B8 were up first and would require nothing less than a 2-0 victory if they wanted to avoid elimination from the event. Unfortunately for Danil ‘Dendi’ Ishutin’s squad, going up against his ex-teammate Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov was a tall-task and a quick 2-0 victory for Secret came through.

Secret would then have a bigger task of facing OG, who were still finding their footing with their new roster in recent times. While we got the pleasure of seeing a Techies from Johan ‘n0tail’ Sundstein, there was nothing OG could do to withstand Secret’s lineup in either game. With another 2-0 victory, their fourth in the group stages, Secret would claim the number one seed spot in Group A, pushing Team Nigma into the second-place position. For OG, the loss does not push them out of Beyond Epic as they remain within the top four and will progress into the lower bracket of playoffs where they will face Virtus.pro in an elimination series tomorrow.

Ninjas in Pyjamas were also in the hot seat today as they would need a perfect 2-0 series against VP if they wanted to remain in the event. Unfortunately, after losing the first game, that hope was out the window but that didn’t stop the team from giving the series everything they had. Taking the next two games gave NiP a fantastic 2-1 victory to close out the group stages but they would miss out on the top four by 0.1 of a point, leaving them eliminated.

Tomorrow we will see the lower bracket of playoffs kick off with two teams being eliminated from Beyond Epic: EU & CIS. The matchups are: Vikin.gg versus Alliance and VP versus OG.
