After Team Nigma were eliminated from ESL One Germany 2020, it was time for another team to meet their demise as Alliance and OG would fight for their tournament lives in an elimination series.
Although Alliance would end the group stages of ESL One Germany 2020 completely unbeaten, once it got to playoffs, they seemed to struggle. Going up against Vikin.gg, Alliance were dismantled and pushed into the lower bracket – where it would be OG who joined them after a stunning performance from Natus Vincere sent them down into the elimination zone.
Game one of the series was a bloodbath with 74 kills in total over a little over half an hour – with Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov claiming 22 of those for himself on Faceless Void. Alliance were always the team in the lead, dominating OG across the map and never giving the famed double TI winners a chance to make any promising plays. OG’s odd hero choices did not help them at all as Alliance went up a game in the elimination series. For some reason, OG decided to try make the Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng Elder Titan pick work again in game two but going up against a Phantom Assassin would be no easy task.
While they allowed OG to take early game skirmishes, once Nikobaby’s PA was online, nothing OG did worked for them as Alliance marched through their opponents. It would have to be back to the drawing board now for OG as they exit the ESL One Germany 2020 event on the same day as Team Nigma, both falling in the first round of lower bracket action.
For Alliance, a far better showing after their dismal performance against Vikin.gg could prove to be just what they need to make a lower bracket run and challenge who we can only assume will be Team Secret later in the event.
