Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng was announced to have departed from Team Secret earlier this week. His leave comes after more than 30 tournaments and 3 The Internationals fought with the European team, which for the past three years was his home. His time spent mainly in Europe, playing and practising with his team, has put a toll on the Malaysian player, who according to a report from IGN Southeast Asia, wants to take a competitive break to recover and re-evaluate his options.
IGN Southeast Asia base their report on a conversation they had with Midone’s brother and manager, Gary Yeik, who wanted to address the community rumour that the player was kicked from the team after what some consider an underwhelming performance from him at TI9. Team Secret finished fourth this year at The International, which is their best placement to date, but their game plan execution wasn’t the cleanest. Secret came as main favourites at the title this year, after a dominant season that placed them first in the Dota Pro Circuit rankings with a total of 14400 DPC points. According to Gary Yeik, there is no drama and no bad blood between Midone and Team Secret, who fully supported his decision to leave the competitive scene. At the same time, he speculated that Midone might take into consideration to form a team of his own in Southeast Asia when he will feel ready to come back to competitive play.
In the meantime, Team Secret will make their debut with the new roster on the first week of December when they will enter the regional qualifiers for the DreamLeague Leipzig Major. Mid-December, starting with the 17th of the month, they will make their LAN debut at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore.
