Invictus Gaming Vitality lost their carry player as the young talent decided to return home to join one of the biggest Singaporean organizations.
Galvin “Meracle” Kang ended his three months stint with iG. Vitality after the Chinese team didn’t manage to grab a spot at The International 2018. His team had to take the long road of open qualifiers for this year’s TI. They made it to the closed regional qualifier from the first wave of opens along with Team Serenity and Keen Gaming. However, iG. Vitality fell short in the round robin group stage where they won just two of their matchups, finishing second to last place in the group.
Returned home, in Singapore, Meracle joins now one of the biggest Singaporean organizations. Resurgence held nine different squads in eight disciplines, Dota 2 being the newest project. Galvin “Meracle” Kang will take the captain and the carry role in this team where he is joined by four former First Departure players.
“I feel excited about being able to play under Resurgence as being able to play under a Singapore organization, with my Singaporean teammates and friends, has been something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and something I feel the most comfortable with,” said Meracle in the organization’s official announcement.

Resurgence are aiming to make a mark in the new Dota Pro Circuit season and ultimately qualify for the next TI. They are joined in their quest by the Singaporean legend Nicholas “xFreedom” Lim who will be coaching the newly formed team.
Coach xFreedom official statement:
“I aim to bring this team together with my past experiences. As the saying goes, each of us has a fire in our hearts for something. It’s our goal in life to find it and keep it lit. I hope this team to achieve the results that Zenith and Faceless did in their primetime or even better. Knowing how hungry these players are to win, I feel this roster has the potential to put the Singapore flag on the map for Dota 2. ”
xFreedom was part of the TI2 Team Zenith where the Dota 2 veterans, Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang and Jonathan “Loda” Berg fought together and made it to top 6 back then. Singapore didn’t have too many stories of success with their national teams or orgs. Most recently, the country pride in Dota 2 was also Iceiceice, who ran an independent squad of his own, Team Faceless. Unfortunately, after truly dominating the SEA scene through the 2016-2017 season, Team Faceless lost the battle in the TI7 qualifiers .
In the next competitive season, it will be up to Team Resurgence to bring their country flag to the biggest Dota 2 events.
Team Resurgence roster from position 1 to 5:
– Galvin “Meracle” Kang
– Joel “Chibi” Chan
– Teo “Tudi” Yao Wen
– Wilson “Poloson” Koh
– Paul “Barry” Tan
