With the open qualifiers behind us and a bit of a shuffle drama between the three strongest teams in CIS, the closed regional battle for a ticket to the ESL One Los Angeles Major started with Virtus.pro, Gambit Esports and Natus Vincere showing their revamped rosters in action.

Seeded in Group A, VP and Gambit Esports reigned supreme on the first day of the closed regional qualifiers, both ending with two clean victories. VP cut through Cyber Legacy and Modus Unity, the open qualifiers winners, to place themselves a little bit closer to the Major qualifiers playoffs. They are tied on first place with Gambit, who also won their first two series, and most probably, the two of them will fight for the first place in the group in their direct confrontation on day two.

In Group B, Na’Vi got only two draw scores, as did the other teams. Group B also features HellRaisers, Team Spirit, forZe and EXTREMUM, all looking to clinch a spot in the Major qualifiers playoffs. At the end of the second day of matches, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Major qualifiers playoffs, the third placed squad from each group will go to the Minor qualifiers while the bottom two teams of each group will be eliminated. CIS qualifiers will resume today, February 10 at 10:00 CET.
