Late last night the series between Gambit Esports and Nigma took place, with the losing team being eliminated from the WePlay! Bukovel Minor, while the winner would move on to meet Geek Fam in the lower bracket final today.
This far at the Minor, every series that Nigma had played had gone all three games, except their 2-0 victory over FURIA Esports, as the team seemed to have some serious slipups very often. This series was no different as the side were very clearly struggling to find solid footing against nearly every opponent until a later point. Game one saw Nigma obtain a sizeable lead but by the 20-minute mark, Gambit were able to overturn it and power their way through to a victory with an amazing Drow Ranger lineup.
Nigma then seemed to actually get serious as they picked up the Outworld Devourer for Aliwi ‘w33’ Omar in the next game and ran rings around Gambit’s lineup to tie the series. And in the final game it was just too much for Gambit to handle a Amer ‘Miracle’ Al-Barkawi Ember Spirit which ended 24-2-19. Right off the bat Gambit were at a major disadvantage, with only their mid-laner of Danil ‘gpk’ Skutin really doing anything impressive with a Magnus – but this was far from enough to give Gambit enough power to take the series.
With a 2-1 victory, Nigma march forward to face Geek Fam later today in what is sure to be an extremely intense series in which the victor will reach the grand finals to play Royal Never Give Up. Unfortunately for Gambit Esports, even as the last CIS hope at a CIS Minor, they were unable to stay afloat but finish in an admirable fourth place. Today is the final day of the WePlay! Bukovel Minor and we will see the champion crowned; will it be Nigma, Geek Fam or RNG?
