CIS had some fantastic teams filling its first open qualifier for The International 2019 but only one spot was available from this open qualifier and it went to FlyToMoon.
Regional open qualifiers have been going on for a few days now and, as always, the region was overflowing with talent. Unfortunately, the first open qualifier only gave one team a chance to make it to the closed qualifier and the competition was fierce. Teams such as Vega Squadron and Danil ‘Dendi’ Ishutin’s newest squad, The Pango, would all have a shot at reaching the closed qualifiers.
However, it was FTM who took down both squads and pushed themselves into the closed qualifier, joining the other five teams who were already there. The full FlyToMoon TI9 qualifier squad is:
- Egor ‘.Ark’ Zhabotinskii
- Bogdan ‘Iceberg’ Vasilenko
- Alexander ‘Flow’ Sazonov
- Semion ‘CemaTheSlayer’ Krivulya
- Andrey ‘ALWAYSWANNAFLY’ Bondarenko
Luckily for the CIS teams that fell by the wayside, there is still the second open qualifier which will also have TWO spots available in the closed qualifier. With both Vega and The Pango being eliminated by FlyToMoon, this could be their chance to reach the closed qualifier – or even TI9 if they’re able to get passed the rest.
