The World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) has already kicked off its Regional Qualifers with China and Russia already finding their champions and a lot more still to come in the upcoming months. The European Qualifier is set for some great action with Finland’s squad boasting 3 winners of The International, namely Lasse ‘Matumbaman’ Urpalainen, Jesse ‘Jerax’ Vainikka and Topias ‘Topson’ Taavitsainen.

The 3 join Joni ‘Buugi’ Fält (currently playing for Happy Guys) and Petu ‘Peksu’ Vaatainen (of Vega Squadron fame currently) as the Full-Finnish squad take to the North European Qualifier for WESG in an attempt to make it to the prestigious event. The Qualifiers begin tomorrow and the team look prepared to take on the likes of Denmark, Sweden and Norway among other. The full list of countries participating in the North European WESG Regional Qualifiers is:

  • Finland
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Norway
  • Sweden

The entire WESG event has a massive prize pool total across 6 different games including; Dota 2, CS:GO, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, VainGlory and Pro Evolution Soccer – with the Dota 2 category having a grand total of $890,000 and the entirety of WESG has a total of $2,500,000 on the line.
