Regional qualifiers for ESL One Hamburg came to an end today with North America’s champion team being decided as J.Storm took on Fighting Pepegas.
Over the recent weekend the European, Chinese, Southeast Asian and NA qualifiers got underway for ESL One Hamburg and by Sunday three of those regions had a champion. SEA would see Carlo ‘Kuku’ Palad’s new squad of Geek Fam claim the spot at ESL One Hamburg while EU would be taken by Pittner ‘b0ne7’ Armand’s Vikin.gg and China by Hu ‘Kaka’ Liangzhi’s Invictus Gaming. The NA qualifiers should have concluded soon after this but due to J.Storm making it into the grand finals of Midas Mode 2.0, their Hamburg qualifier was pushed back 24 hours to tonight.
Jacky ‘EternalEnvy’ Mao’s FP squad had already beaten J.Storm in the upper bracket finals and secured themselves a one game advantage going into the grand finals but J.Storm were able to push themselves into a best-of-five rematch for a chance to appear at ESL One Hamburg 2019 later this month. While J.Storm seemed to be on a high after claiming victory in the NA division at Midas Mode 2.0 just yesterday, they just could not take down FP in a full series – losing 3-2 in the end.
We are still quite the distance from the beginning of ESL One Hamburg, as the main event is set to take place from October 25-27 and there are still three remaining spots to be filled via direct invites. The current teams heading to the tournament are:
- TNC Predator
- Vici Gaming
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Gambit Esports
- Invictus Gaming
- Geek Fam
- Fighting Pepegas
While the squad is still quite new, FP seem as though they are ready to take the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season by storm and with only a few days left until the first Minor and Major qualifiers kick off, we’re sure to see them, as well as J.Storm, in action again very soon.
