Following Peter “ppd” Dager’s retirement, the Swedish organization Ninjas in Pyjamas dropped the entire roster and signed the Chicken Fighters stack led by Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev.
While this will mark the debut in the NiP jersey for almost all the former Chicken Fighters players, Adrian “Era” Kryeziu is, in fact, reuniting with the organization after nearly five years of playing under various tags. NiP was Era’s second big organization. His debut was made with Fnatic alongside Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and Tal “Fly” Aizik, back in 2012. The three of them represented the Fnatic banner at TI3 where they placed top eight. Following the 2014 TI, N0tail and Fly joined the newly formed at that time Team Secret, while Era formed a Swedish stack later on signed by NiP.
History seems to be repeating itself for him as now NiP is signing the stack he played on for the past couple of months.
“Chickens transformed into Ninjas. After playing for months without an organization we are thrilled to have an experienced team of professionals backing us up and helping us become better and strive for greatness! I am happy to announce that we will be part of NiP,” commented the team captain Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev in the official NiP announcement.
Jonas Gundersen, COO of NiP
“Thank you to Daxak, Lelis and Tanner for representing NiP in a turbulent time. They’ve been great and professional the whole way through, and I am sure they’ll find success in their next venture.
As I’ve talked about earlier, rebuilding with a core that fits the ethos and vision of where Ninjas in Pyjamas is headed, has been our main priority. Longevity and sustainability in the ecosystem of DotA2 is something we want to take an integral part in helping build out, and a stable and top performing roster is a requirement of that.
It’s been an ongoing process finding the right way to structure the new team, evaluating and optimising our own internal setup in the process. Sometimes when you get a clear overview, opportunities present themselves at perfect times.
The whole roster of Chicken Fighters are a great group of young players, with a perfect combination of hunger, talent, experience and a high willingness to learn. I couldn’t be more excited that they want to become part of the Ninjas in Pyjamas team, where I am sure we’ll be able to accomplish great things together.”
