Held over the past weekend in Haikou, China, the Hainan Master Cup featured seven Chinese squads and the South Korean organization T1, fighting in a single-elimination bracket for a share of the ¥ 500,000 (~$71,000).
Two of the teams competing were Aster and EHOME, who are set to participate later this month at MDL Chengdu, the first Major of the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit. With just about two weeks before the Major kicks off, the Hainan Master Cup made for a good practice ground for the two Chinese squads, who now head to the Major with a few official games already played against each other. Both enter the season with revamped rosters, and if last month, in the MDL Chengdu qualifiers, Aster managed to defeat EHOME, this weekend in Haikou the latter took the championship title undefeated.
EHOME cut through T1, Sparking Arrow and Team Aster to take home ~ $28,400 for their first place finish. Coming in second, Aster were rewarded $14,200 and will most likely look to take revenge in Chengdu, a tournament where a top four finish can potentially be enough for a team to be already locked in for The International 2020.
