Although he has been out of the team through the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit season, Danil “Dendi” Ishutin was still under contract with Natus Vincere, the organization he served for over eight years.
Not only a true Ambassador for the Na’Vi brand, but also the most iconic figure of Dota 2, Dendi took off the black and yellow jersey for the first time on the 1st of September, 2018, when NA’Vi introduced their new roster without their legend on it. Dendi didn’t stay completely out of the competition this season. He stood in for Vega Squadron at the first Minor in the Pro Circuit, then he moved briefly to Southeast Asia to play for Tigers. None of his ventures led to successful stories to tell, but his devoted fans didn’t stop cheering for the one who inspired a whole new generation of players to embrace a professional career in Dota 2.
According to Na’Vi’s official announcement from today, August 10, Dendi’s contract was terminated at his own request.
“Danil «Dendi» Ishutin appealed to the management of the club with a request for early termination of the contract. Taking into account his contribution to the development of Natus Vincere, as well as his achievements, the club met the wishes and released him from all contractual obligations, so starting from today Dendi becomes a free agent,” says the organization.
In the same press release, Na’Vi mention that Dendi has plans already aligned for the near future, but the reveal will be made by himself after The International 2019. Dendi played under the Ukrainian organization banner for 2170 days and has 1507 official matches with them, including three TI grand finals.
Dendi’s official statement upon leaving Na’Vi:
Dendi will be present in Shanghai, China for TI9 as part of the official Russian broadcast while Na’Vi are one of the 18 teams fighting this year for the Aegis of Champions.
