Four teams from each regional open qualifier will advance into the closed regionals and although the slot distribution for the main qualifiers will be announced at a later date, StarLadder and ImbaTV are ready to reveal the invites for each of the six main regions.
Starting with Southeast Asia, three of the teams currently playing in the KL Major, namely Fnatic, Tigers and TNC Predator have been invited to fight for a shot at claiming a ticket for the Chongqing Major, along with Lotac who finished third in the closed regional qualifiers for both KL Major and DreamLeague Season 10 Minor.
Na’Vi, runners-up at the DreamLeague Minor will fight in the Chongqing Major CIS qualifiers alongside Virtus.pro, Gambit Esports, and Team Spirit.
NA qualifiers will be pretty interesting to watch as compLexity gaming will be playing there, which can make for a nice redemption story for them given the recent incidents. Along coL, Evil Geniuses, Forward Gaming and J.Storm all currently playing the KL Major, will fight for a spot at the second Major of the season.
paiN Gaming got invited with both the main squad and paiN X at the Chongqing Major qualifiers as the one team per organization valve rule applies solely for The International 2019. Besides the two paiN teams, Infamous and the recently formed Playmakers Esports got also an invite from the tournament organizers.
Interestingly enough, only three teams got invited in the Chinese closed regional qualifiers, and Royal Never Give Up are not among those, neither Invictus Gaming, Newbee or Serenity have been invited. The three invites went to PSG.LGD Gaming, Vici Gaming and Team Aster, with a fourth team joining them via H-Cup.
Perhaps the most exciting to watch will be the European qualifiers as the TI8 Champions, OG will make their competitive debut this season. The European competition seems pretty stacked as Team Secret, Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Alliance will all participate.
The closed regional qualifiers will feature a best-of-three GSL group stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing into a double elimination playoff. The Grand Finals match in the double-elimination playoffs, however, will not be played.
The SEA, CIS and South America qualifiers will be held November 25-27 with China, Europe and NA to follow on the 28th-30th of November.
