North American region lost a qualifier slot with the second Major of the season despite gaining a new competitor with Ninjas in Pyjamas, who moved there from Europe. But all these, plus a new patch and a new player joining their ranks, didn’t stop Chaos Esports Club to prove themselves as the better team this time around.

Chaos started the season with a lot of uncertainties. The first round of Major and Minor qualifiers had the five players fighting for a Major ticket without a sponsor, and with the Hassan brothers trying to play together, although they faced several impediments in keeping Syed “SumaiL” Hassan on their team. In the end, they qualified for the first Minor of the season, but they still had to replace SumaiL, and ended up losing the grand finals to Invictus Gaming, putting their Major dream on hold. A few days before the DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major, they announced HellRaiser’s offlaner, Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin joining their team and proceeded to stomp their way into the qualifiers playoffs. It seems like the new patch only empowered the revamped Chaos, as they are now the first NA team to secure a spot at the Major.

Their first round in the upper bracket playoffs was held against Ninjas in Pyjamas, and it all started with a commending victory over an Alchemist draft put together by NiP. The series went the distance, however, after Chaos lost the second game to a line-up with plenty of control spells that countered their Morphling and Ember Spirit mobility. Chaos bounced back in the third game with an Aghanim’s Scepter Sven that was able to stay on top of his targets in the team fights.

In the other semifinals series, Evil Geniuses started with a victory over Fighting Pandas in game one, but got taken by surprise by a Meepo last pick and a carry Visage played by Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao. EE’s Visage got EG in troubles in game three as well and knocked them down in the lower bracket, where they will have to play for survival against their former captain, Peter “ppd” Dager.

Envy’s Visage became first ban priority in the finals against Chaos, and the series went down pretty fast, with Chaos Esports making quick work of their adversaries to claim the first seed in the NA regional qualifiers.

Fighting Pandas, Evil Geniuses and Ninjas in Pyjamas will resume the battle for the second ticket to the Leipzig Major later today, fighting in the lower bracket rounds. For the two losers, the fight will not be completely over, as they will continue their journey via WePlay! Bukovel Minor qualifiers.
