Day two of the ESL One Los Angeles Online event for the Southeast Asia region would see Fnatic and BOOM Esports going head-to-head in what would be both teams first series in the tournament.

Fnatic, in recent times, have seemingly found their form once again – taking the ESL One Los Angeles Major SEA qualifiers by storm, before winning the DOTA Summit 12 earlier this month. However, BOOM Esports have also been showing their strengths, finishing in the top 4 at the most recent Minor in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. Now these two teams would get a chance to show their skills against one another after ESL One LA was changed into an Online tournament, following the cancellation of many of the upcoming DPC events.

Game one of the best-of-three series lasted less than half an hour as Fnatic completely dominated from start to finish, thanks to a Nuengnara ‘23savage’ Teeramahanon Riki and a Daryl Koh ‘iceiceice’ Pei Xiang Dazzle. BOOM had no openings to get back into the game and would now have the tall task of a reverse sweep. BOOM was definitely up for the challenge as they took the next game straight to Fnatic, destroying their opponents in the early game period. While Fnatic were able to fight back for a short time and almost turn the game around, it was not enough as BOOM tied the series.

Having only recently reached the 10,000 Matchmaking Rating milestone, Rafli ‘Mikoto’ Fathur Rahman’s Ember Spirit became the absolute bane of Fnatic’s game three. Making flashy plays and claiming 12 kills for his team, Mikoto gave BOOM the ability to take an amazing series. In fine fashion, BOOM complete the reverse sweep and a surprising 2-1 victory over Fnatic at ESL One LA Online.

ESL One Los Angeles Online continues tomorrow for the SEA region with Geek Fam fighting BOOM Esports, while later today the North and South American regions also continue their tournament – with China’s games currently ongoing.
