The roster lock deadline is behind us, but the post TI9 shuffle continues as the organizations make their final arrangements for the next competitive season.
The Dota 2 community and the Alliance fans were taken by surprise last week when the organization lost its full Dota 2 roster. Another chapter was abruptly closed for the Swedes when their five players decided to leave the nest and seek for a new adventure. Alliance had no player on the 28th of September when the roster lock deadline for the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit hit.
However, with the first round of qualifiers for the new season, a few stacks that actually made the shuffle deadline and registered on Valve’s Majors page made the cut for a direct invite to the closed regional qualifiers. Among them, Cool Team, a project put together by two former Ninjas in Pyjamas players joined by two Swedes and the Bulgarian revelation of TI9, Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov. With two days before the battle for one of the two European slots to the first Major of the season and with the former Alliance players announced yesterday to have joined Team Liquid, the Swedish organization is ready to welcome to their ranks the Cool Team members.
This will mark the first venture under the Alliance banner for Adrian “Fata” Trinks and Neta “33” Shapira. For Nikobaby, who played mainly in SEA at the start of his professional career, Alliance is the first big European team that he will be representing.
“Alliance has been a big inspiration for me ever since the TI3 era. Last year I was really close to signing with them but it didn’t work out in the end. It actually motivated me even harder and I was very hungry to prove myself as a player. I got the chance to play for Mineski at TI and I learned a lot, especially from Mushi.
After a successful summer in SEA I wanted to continue my career back in Europe, and started playing with Fata and 33. Shortly after, we got contacted by Loda to represent Alliance, and I felt that it became a full circle. Our goal is nothing else but to win TI10 with Alliance, we will do our best to make the fans proud,” said Nikobaby in the Alliance official announcement.
Simon “Handsken” Haag and Linus “Limmp” Blomdin, are the two returning players for The Alliance. They both played in the green colors back in the 2016 – 2017 season, when Alliance were still pushing for a full Swedish line-up.
“Handsken and Limmp are both players that have played with Alliance before. Both are players that have improved immensely since their time with us, but more than that I know that they are tired of being at the sideline. I’m happy and proud to be able to play a part in these two players reunion. A new chapter of Alliance Dota 2 begins today. It won’t be easy, but we are no strangers to hard work. Finally I just want to thank all of you out there that make this possible. We’ll see you at TI10,” said Jonathan “Loda” Berg , Alliance CEO.

The new Alliance will be captained by Fata, who will also make a role swap starting this season and will join Handsken in the support lines.
