MDL Macau, coming our way in two weeks, will be Evil Geniuses’ second non – Dota Pro Circuit tournament participation, but also the second time this season when they will attend an event that doesn’t count for TI qualification without their mid laner Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan.

At the beginning of the season, EG went to ESL One Hamburg 2018 with Quinn “CCNC” Callahan standing-in as Sumail couldn’t sort out his visa. This time around it is not a visa problem, stated the organization in their press release.

“Due to the increased schedule for the DPC season – qualifiers, bootcamps and LAN stages themselves – there has been less chance for downtime for our players.

In the interest of maintaining our roster’s health, we have given Sumail the chance to recharge with a much-needed vacation,” said Evil Geniuses who earlier this week secured themselves a ticket for DreamLeague Season 11, the third Major of the DPC season. Sumail will be back to the mid lane in time for the Major, EG ensured their fans. In the meantime, CCNC will try once again to help the team place as highe as possible at a $300,000 LAN event.

Evil Geniuses are one of the five directly invited teams to MDL Macau, and it won’t be just them missing a star mid laner. PSG.LGD are in the exact same situation after earlier this month they announced Guo “XM” Hongcheng standing in for a while, so Lu “Maybe” Yao can take a much-needed vacation as well. A few days into his vacation Maybe got married, and it will most likely not rejoin the team for MDL Macau. The event will unfold February 20-24 with eight teams competing for a share of the $300,000.
