The Bucharest Minor Qualifiers confined today with the North American region finding their champion early this morning while China also reached completion just a few moments ago. The qualifiers would be over in little over 12 hours with CIS and South America finding their teams for the Minor.
Yesterday we saw the first half of the China qualifiers take place with Keen Gaming and Team Root fighting for the first of two spots Root put up an amazing battle against their opponents, turning around a massive 30k lead to bring the series to level standing but it was not enough. Keen Gaming, coming through the Open Qualifier, became the first team from the region to enter the Minor – also heading to their first Dota 2 Pro Circuit Event.
Dropping into the lower bracket Root had another shot – but in their path were EHOME, the team with 2 ex-TI winners. Either victor would be heading to their first DPC event and unfortunately for Team Root, it wouldn’t be their time. While they valiantly stood their ground, EHOME were just too strong for them – especially with a Wings-esque lineup in game two.
The North American Qualifier saw test321, Quinn ‘CCnC’ Callahan’s squad who were finally competing in the NA region, fighting against the likes of compLexity Gaming and Team Team. test321 were expected to make it through with ease after they dominated at the Major qualifier before being disqualified – but this wasn’t the case. Eliminated by coL in the lower bracket final, they wouldn’t see the Major or Minor this time around – and unfortunately for coL, neither would they. Team Team proved to be too strong and the possible return of Michael ‘ixmike88’ Ghannam to the top of his game was on the cards as his team entered the DPC via the Minor.
The CIS qualifiers come to a close in a just a few hours before the South American region will end off in a little less than half a day. Once all the teams are in place, we look towards early January 2019 for the start of The Bucharest Minor.
