Three of the worlds best teams are heading to Beijing. Vitality has joined a list consisting of Team Liquid and Astralis set to attend IEM Beijing and there’s still two more invites to go.

The event taking place in the Chinese capital will be held from November 7th to 10th and have $250,000 up for grabs. Fans can watch the playoffs live from the Beijing University Students’ Gymnasium.

The event will be the fourth of the Intel Grand Slam’s third season, giving teams a chance to move one step closer to the $1 million prize.

The French team’s roster for the event is not yet set in stone as they recently benched Nathan “NBK” Schmitt. Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey is currently the favorite to replace NBK due to a high price tag for Richard “shox” Butterfly.

kioShiMa being a free pick up makes him an easier pick up as it also negates many of the organization to organization negotiating that would need to take place. As desirable as shox may be, you can’t look past the $500,000 to $700,000 price tag associated with him as reported by 1pv.fr.

This puts shox in a situation very similar to that of Marcelo “coldzera” David who benched himself on MIBR. Extremely high buyouts mean these star players spend much more time on the bench than they, other teams, or their fans would like.

Vitality finished 5th-8th at the recent StarLadder Major in Berlin where they were eliminated by AVANGAR in the quarterfinals. Coming in to the event as one of the favorites, actions were taken swiftly as the roster move was made while the event was still ongoing.

Two invites still remain with the final three spots being filled via qualifiers.
