Heroic has announced the official signing of Daniel “mertz” Mertz. The Counter-Strike: Globall Offensive team had brought the player in on a loan from North just two months ago in a swap that sent Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen to North. Bother players were on trials with their new organizations and mertz has earned his spot more permanently on starting roster.

mertz played with the Heroic squad at DreamHack Masters Stockholm and DreamHack Open Montreal, reaching the quarterfinals in Sweden. More impressive was making it out of a group surrounded by fnatic, FaZe, and OpTic. The impressive run in Stockholm didn’t translate to Montreal, however, as the squad was eliminated rather quickly playing only two matches. Although the team saw a swift exit, mertz posted good numbers and clearly made an impression on the organization and his team.

Heroic is set to make their debut with mertz as an official member this weekend at the $90,000 Games Clash Masters event in Poland. The Swedish and Danish mix will compete in Group A with Sprout, Kinguin, and PACT.

Heroic roster:

Sweden Andreas “MODDII” Fridh
Sweden Adam “friberg” Friberg
Denmark Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
Denmark Asger “AcilioN” Larsen
Denmark Daniel “mertz” Mertz

Finland Niko “naSu” Kovanen (coach)

The swaps continued in the region as niko’s time with North has ended and he has joined the ranks of OpTic Gaming.
