NRG has joined the teams lined up to attend DreamHack Masters Dallas.
The $250,000 event will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. Sixteen teams will be battling it out for the trophy and lion’s share of the prize pool.
The North American squad joins the likes of FaZe, Vitality, North, Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, fnatic FURIA, G2, Isurus, and Windigo. Three more invites are set to go out alongside the Chinese and Asian qualifiers to determine the remaining seven spots.
NRG recently added Tarik “tarik” Celik in place of Jacob “FugLy” Medina. Their first showing following the swap witnessed NRG place 3rd-4th in Shanghai, China at the StarSeries i-League Season 7 finals. They would fall in the semifinals to fnatic after a very tough series with both maps going into OT and finishing 19-17 in favor the Swedish side.
The upside seems good for the squad, however, only time will tell if the addition of tarik will finally see NRG break through. The squad is notorious for falling below their expectations on the big stage and decided some more firepower, experience, and confidence were needed. Members of the team and their coach have gone on record about their struggles being somewhat mental with their inability to handle the pressure.
