NRG and compLexity have further their journey toward the next Major.
The two North American teams have secured a spot in the Americas Minor after finishing 3-0 in the Swiss group stage of the closed qualifier.
NRG has shown promise at recent events and put themselves in the discussion of being the top team in North America which is a title currently held by Team Liquid. The team took on Rogue in their final match and took the series 2-1, although Spencer “Hiko” Martin and co., didn’t make it too easy on them. Rogue would take map one by the narrowest of scorelines at 16-14 before falling 16-10 in the latter two. Tsvetelin ‘CeRq’ Dimitrov and Jacob ‘FugLy’ Medina would pave the way for the squad going +10 and +8 respectively.
compLexity’s latest additions of Peter ‘stanislaw’ Jarguz and Shahzeb ‘ShahZaM’ Khan seem to be working out, at least in the North American scene, as they appear to have been bumped up a tier. Having previously struggled against what many would consider tier 2-3 opposition, compLexity made relatively easy work of their opposition in the closed qualifier. Taking down Mythic 2-0 before facing previous coL member Peter “ptr” Gurney and his squad over at Dignitas. Once again Jarguz’s team would come away with the win, dropping only 14 rounds across both maps in the 2-0. Facing Ghost in their final match, the newly formed squad was unable to take away a map and fell 16-8 and 16-10 to the Jerry Jones backed organization.
The 12 teams still standing will fight for the remaining four minor spots.
