G2 has revealed a temporary replacement for Richard “shox” Papillon in the form of Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey.
kioShiMa will be standing in for the organization for a specific set of events including the GG.BET Beijing Qualifier and ESL One New York.
The 25-year-old has been inactive for some time following a relatively brief stint with Cloud9 prior to their near complete overhaul of the roster which saw only Timothy “autimatic” Ta remain.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see kioShiMa in action as the squads first match in the GG.BET Beijing qualifier kicks off today at 11:25 am ET.
It was recently revealed that a deal between G2 Esports and Team Vitality for the sale of shox had been all but completed. Vitality was in need of a replacement for Nathan “NBK” Schmitt following his removal from the active roster during the StarLadder Major in Berlin.
Previously it was believed that shox and kioShiMa were in contention for getting the recently vacant spot on the Team Vitality roster with the latter even getting the edge due to a lack of a buyout. G2 and Vitality were able to compromise a bit on the price of shox, however, and this saw kioShiMa’s stock in the race fall.
Whether this stand-in can turn into a longer term deal in the future is unknown at this time as neither party has made mention of it.
G2’s current roster:
Audric “JaCkz” Jug
Kenny “kennyS” Schrub
François “AmaNEk” Delaunay
Lucas “Lucky” Chastang
Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey (stand-in)
Damien “maLeK” Marcel (coach)
