Due to a “medical situation” Cloud9 in-game leader Maikil “Golden” Selim will be unable to play with the squad today during their BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen matches. In his stead, the North American organization will be using Soham “valens” Chowdhury who serves as the team’s coach.
Valens has spent time playing at the pro level himself, however, his tenure as a pro player ended with compLexity back in ESL Pro League season 2. Prior to compLexity he had played with the likes of Maximum Effort, Nihilum Gaming, and Denial Esports. A little over a month after his departure from compLexity, Valens took on the coaching role for Team SoloMid before ultimately ending up as the coach of the boys in blue, seeing them through to a Major championship at ELEAGUE Boston.
Our coach, @valens, will be playing in his place.

Cloud9 will be opening things up against Natus Vincere at 2pm EST. Cloud9’s roster has been in a state of adjustment since the departure of both Jake “stewie2k” Yip and Tarik “tarik” Celik, filling those voids with Golden and Robin “flusha” Rönnquist. Shortly after the Swedes joined the roster it was revealed that Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham would be stepping away from competition and leaving the active roster for an indefinite hiatus.
This is just another wrench thrown into Cloud9’s attempts to regain their composure and work towards being the team that shocked the world and brought home North Americas first Major championship.
