Counter-Strike 1.6 legend and former compLexity coach Ron “Rambo” Kim is on trial as the coach of prestigious North American organization Cloud9’s CS:GO team.
With his contract not renewed for 2019, Rambo found himself back on the market and Cloud9 make the decision to trial him following a brief stint with Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen trying out as coach.
Soham “valens” Chowdhury has been serving as the teams’ coach, helping propel them to their ELEAGUE Boston Major victory but he alongside the organization has decided he will be stepping away to help lead the analytics division.
In his trial debut, Cloud9 took down fnatic before falling to the Danish powerhouse and number one team in the world, Astralis. If this trial continutes past the iBUYPOWER event, Rambo will continue alongside the squad at the ELEAGUE CS:GO Invitational in Atlanta next week.
Cloud9 has struggled with its roster ever since the miracle run which saw them be the first North American squad crowned Major champions. Shortly thereafter Jake “stewie2k” Yip left the team for MIBR with Tarik “tarik” Celik following shortly after. Since then, the boys in blue brought in Robin “flusha” Rönnquist and Maikil “Golden” Selim with Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey later joining in place of the departing Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham. Things went south though with Golden becoming ill and missing several events prompting the decision to bring in Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro.
