Cloud9 have added a third to their roster with the announcement of Özgür “woxic” Eker’s signing. The Turkish AWPer joins Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and William “mezii” Merriman in the new project by the organization.
woxic most recently competed with mousesports after being transferred to the international side from HellRaisers in March, 2019. A strong 2019 saw the 22-year-old rank as the 12th best player of 2019 according to HLTV; however things for the team took a downward turn in 2020. After a bit of success the team found themselves exiting in the group stage of event after event in the online era.
This would ultimately result in 17-year-old Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras making his way to the roster in place of woxic.
As part of the announcement Henry “HenryG” Greer, Cloud9’s General Manager, revealed details regarding the role, contract length, and value of the deal. The AWPer has signed with the organization for three years with a total value of $1,365,000.
HenryG believes woxic’s true form is found upon a stage as he stated the latest addition was “a true LAN player at heart, his best has come out on stage, in the important matches and at critical moments that decide the outcome of a contest. Pressure becomes a factor for his opponents under such circumstances, as this AWP monster plays at a breakneck pace and commits everything,” in the official announcement.
Two more spots remain on the roster and fans are waiting to see who will round out this “Colossus” Cloud9 roster just as we are.
