Cloud9 has added Patrick “es3tag” Hansen as the fifth member of its self-proclaimed “colossus” Counter-Strike team. The former Astralis player was confirmed to have been transferred by the Danish organization prior to Henry “HenryG” Greer sharing the news himself alongside some details of the deal.
es3tag had only joined Astralis four short months ago in July and has now decided that the opportunity with Cloud9 is one he didn’t want to miss. es3tag’s position on Astralis is an interesting one given the organizations ambitions to create a larger than ordinary roster.
The 24-year-old said the offer from Cloud9 was one he “needed to consider seriously” and shared that he “loved the ideas behind the project.”
“I believe it will be a team to consider in the top of CS for the years to come,” he added.
In terms of the deal details revealed by HenryG, es3tag has been signed to Cloud9 on a 3-year contract valued at $2.1 million with the role of entry / aggressive rifle. He will officially start his contract on October 25th, 2020.
In terms of how this transfer has impacted Astralis’ vision of their expanded roster, Director of Sports at Astralis Group Kasper Hvidt had the following to say.
“Possible future transfers and securing consistency in the overall performance might mean we will have 5 or 7 players in shorter periods, though, but this is not a part of the plans right now.”
”Ultimately, we are working towards a full 2-team roster with 10 players like the way we work in League of Legends. This is something we will present at a later stage, right now, I just want to thank Patrick for his time and hard work and wish him the best of luck in the future.”
