It’s been quite the quick rise for AVANGAR. The roster that nobody expected to make the Legends stage earned themselves a finals appearance alongside Astralis and to follow it up with a victory at BLAST Pro Series Moscow has solidified that team as a real threat.

While many did give AVANGAR credit for their strong showing throughout the StarLadder Major, there were still plenty of question marks around the team and the event. Being able to continue to show a strong performance at a follow-up event and even hoist the trophy has erased at least a few of those questions.

The team opened up the event looking like they’d be proving the doubters wrong with losses to Ninjas in Pyjamas and eventual finalists forZe. It would be a 16-12 win over Natus Vincere in the third round to spark the fire that would propel the team from the CIS region to a 5-1 map run through their grand final victory over forZe. They managed wins over MIBR and ENCE along the way.

It was a stellar performance from Dzhami “Jame” Ali that paved the way for the AVANGAR victory as the teams AWPer finished with a whopping +26 kill-to-death ratio on the way to earning MVP of the event.
