With performances such as Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg’s in the recent match against Heroic (+43 k/d) drawing attention to the veterans in the space, I figured it would be a good time to look at some young talent.

Looking at the North American scene specifically, this is a list of every player in the ESL Pro League under the age of 21 (Group D not included) as well as FURIA because four of their players are under 21, they’re nuts, play in NA, and they played at the Major by qualifying through NA. These players can’t legally drink in the states, but they can definitely frag out.

I started this list trying to put the players in order of skill, however, once you get past a certain spot it becomes drastically harder to separate the players and so just take it as a list of young talent rather than a ranking.

The youngest player in the North American pro scene

  1. Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken – Liquid – 19
  2. Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte – NRG – 20
  3. Ethan “Ethan” Arnold – NRG – 19
  4. Matthew “WARDELL” Yu – Ghost – 20
  5. Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov – NRG – 19
  6. Yuri “yuurih” Santos – FURIA – 19
  7. Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo – FURIA – 19
  8. Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato – FURIA – 19
  9. Rinaldo “ablej” Moda Junior – FURIA – 20
  10. Hunter “SicK” Mims – compLexity – 20
  11. Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes – INTZ – 20
  12. Edgar “MarkE” Maldonado – eUnited – 20
  13. Gage “Infinite” Green – Lazarus – 20
  14. Michael “dapr” Gulino – Lazarus – 20
  15. Jason “neptune” Tran – Ghost – 16
  16. Sam “s0m” Oh – Envy – 16
  17. Anthony “vanity” Malaspina – eUnited – 20

Not in the ESL Pro League or on FURIA, but honorable mention because I’ve seen them be nuts in the MDL:

  • Tyson “TenZ” Ngo – Bad News Bears – 17
  • Michael “Grim” Wince – Spacestation – 18
  • Ryan “Snakes” Amann – Spacestation – 16
  • Ricky “floppy” Kemery – Singularity – 19
  • Ryan “ryann” Welsh – Singularity – 18
