Co-owner and CEO of NRG Esports, Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, is set to reacquire his previous organization OpTic Gaming according to a report from Esports Observer. The report states that this acquisition is still pending approval from the Call of Duty League given H3CZ’s ownership of the Chicago Huntsmen team.
In dealing with this conflict it is reported that he will be looking to divest the Los Angeles spot to other interested parties while maintaining the remainder of the OpTic Gaming brand and assets. This is of course based on the CDL’s approval of such a move given his stake with the Chicago Huntsmen.
H3CZ sold OpTic Gaming to the Immortals Gaming Club (IGC) in June of 2019 for a deal estimated to be around $100m. This move left many unhappy given the NRG CEO had built the brand from the ground up and was in many ways the face and lifeblood of the brand. The brand would not maintain its power in the following year and now it seems IGC is willing to part ways with it.
In regards to what could happen to the spot, many are hoping 100 Thieves’ Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag is able to grab it and return to the title in which he made his name.
