Known by the esports fans for their Super Smash Bros, Super Smash Bros Melee and Dragon Ball FighterZ divisions, Beastcoast announced their first Dota 2 team last night. Their entry into the MOBA genre is made with TEAM TEAM which will represent the Beastcoast banner at the upcoming MDL Disneyland® Paris Major.
TEAM TEAM has gone through a lot of controversy in the past couple of weeks. After delivering the upset in the North American qualifiers for the Paris Major, the squad went to ESL One Mumbai and decided during that event to kick two of its players. The removal of Nico “Gunnar” Lopez and Jason “Newsham” Newsham merly two weeks before the Major put Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao in the spotlight, taking a lot of blame on social media channels from both fans and the industry personalities.
Nonetheless, Beastcoast will take the chance with the new TEAM TEAM roster, the organization CEO declaring the following on signing the squad:
“We’re very excited to have officially entered Dota 2. It’s been one of my personal goals since founding Beastcoast to play Dota 2 at the highest level. It means a lot to me personally to have such tremendous NA legends representing our brand and sponsors. We’re looking forward to welcoming the Dota fanbase with open arms.” – Grant Zinn, Beastcoast CEO
Beastcoast roster from position 1 to 5:
- Jacky ‘EternaLEnVy’ Mao
- Eric ‘Ryoya’ Dong
- Braxton ‘Brax’ Paulson
- Timothy ‘tmt’ Ong
- Michael ‘ixmike88’ Ghannam
Beastcoast captain, ixmike88:
“We are proud to represent beastcoast as their first Dota 2 team. We are excited for this opportunity and grateful for the resources and support that has been provided to us. We look forward to a successful partnership and thank all our fans for their continued support.”
Beastcoast will make their Major debut this coming Saturday, on May 4th at 11:00 EEST when they will face off against the Dota Pro Circuit top placed team, Virtus. pro.
