North American organization NRG Esports is looking to expand into new titles. The game on its radar is, you guessed it, Apex Legends, the new battle royale from developers Respawn.

Apex Legends would be the 12th game that NRG Esports is invested in. The org runs rosters in major titles like CS:GO, Rocket League, Hearthstone and Smash. NRG also run the Overwatch League franchise San Francisco Shock and operate their own Overwatch Contenders team.

NRG enjoyed varying success in 2018. Its CS:GO squad was one of the Cinderella stories of the year, winning cs_summit 3 and IEM Shanghai, while finishing second at StarSeries Season 5 and top 4 at ECS Season 5 and ESL One New York. The Rocket League Squad had a decent year too, winning North America’s region in RCLS Season 6, but flopping at the Finals event. In Overwatch, NRG’s Contenders team reaped more accolades than their OWL cousns, winning Overwatch PIT Season 3 and placing top 4 at OWC Season 2.

Being such wide multi-gaming organization, it makes perfect sense for NRG to expand to Apex Legends. The battle royale became the major story in gaming last week, launching to 2.5M players on day 1 and hitting 10M by its third day. If NRG is quick to sign its players, the brand might even have a presence at the upcoming $200,000 Twitch Rivals event.
