Today PSG.LGD announced that Wang “Ame” Chunyul will be replaced by the Malaysian carry of CDEC Gaming, Lai “Ahjit” Jay Son.

Ame joined PSG.LGD in the post TI6 shuffle, being in fact promoted from the CDEC youth team. Three TIs later he is going back to CDEC Gaming, in what basically is a player swap between the two teams. During his nearly four years stint with PSG.LGD, Ame carried the team to a fourth place finish at TI7, he was an outstanding carry at TI8, where PSG.LGD and OG fought for the Aegis of Champions up to the fifth game of the grand finals and placed top three last year in Shanghai at TI9.

Despite the amazing run that they had since Ame joined the team, the start of the current season was extremely bad for PSG.LGD. They skipped the first Major, but when they regrouped for the second round of qualifiers, they got knocked out in the open qualifiers leg. In less than a week, PSG.LGD will fight once again through opens for a spot at a Major and it seems like they needed a bigger change for them to succeed.

Ame’s place is taken now by Ahjit, who will be reuniting with Jian Wei “xNova” Yap after four years. The two of them started their grind to the top via Southeast Asia and made themselves noticed during their time with WarriorsGaming.Unity. While xNova was recruited from WG.Unity back in 2018 straight to the PSG.LGD team, Ahjit was brought at CDEC only after TI9.

“The club and players hope to improve the current situation of the teams, to work towards new breakthroughs, and to achieve better results with the new status. We hope that both players can fully release their potential in the new environment and bring LGD fans a brand new game-watching experience,” PSG.LGD states in their official announcement made on their Weibo page.
