A few weeks ago, Hera was signed by Tempo Storm and in the days following his addition to the orgnization, he announced a tournament sponsored by Tempo Storm: Tournament Champions League. The tournament featured the top four AoE II players of the year in the form of TheViper, Hera, Liereyy and Mr_Yo. Hera justified the selection of these four players in a video.

The tournament, with a prize pool of $10,400, was played on the 7th and 8th of November. It began with a round robins (all-play-all) group stage and the top two players from the results of those would advance to the best-of-11 final. TheViper, Liereyy and Hera all ended up with 5 points, with Mr_Yo getting eliminated after losing all three of his match-ups 1-2. The tiebreaker was reseolved using best-of-1 mirror match-ups on Arabia, in which Liereyy won both games, TheViper defeated Hera but lost to Liereyy and Hera lost both, leading to his elimnation. It would be TheViper taking on Liereyy in the grand final.

Going into the grand final, Liereyy was probably the favorite after his amazing run of form, where he won Red Bull Wololo 2 and King of the Desert 3. TheViper on the other hand, hadn’t had the best of performances in the two events. But it was a totaly different player that showed up to play against Liereyy in grand final. The best-of-11 series started on Arabia and the loser of every game got to pick the next map. TheViper went up 4-0 right away and then led 5-1. Liereyy mounted a small comeback to make it 5-3, but TheViper’s experience prevailed in seeing him through to a 6-3 series victory and his first tournament win since winning Hidden Cup 3 in March 2020.

The win surely felt good as the Norwegian took to Twitter to express his happiness about getting back to winning ways.

There was also something for all the folks who kept saying he was a washed up player.

TheViper takes home a tidy sum of $4370 while Liereyy is richer by a little over $3000.

Seems like TheViper is back in form and looking confident. The next big tournament is the AoE II 2 v 2 World Cup, and with TheViper and his teammate MbL (who just achieved second place in KotD3) in good form, it seems Norway can be expected to be one of the favorites for the tournament.
