The recent roster changes of Fnatic along with Geek Fam’s disbandment left some of the best players in Southeast Asia without a team.
Three former Fnatic players, Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong, Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon and Azel “Abed” Yusop teamed up with Geek Fam’s Carlo “Kuku” Palad and Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon under the “Among Us” tag to perform in a yet to be announced Beyond the Summit PRO Series event for Southeast Asia.
The announcement was made on Twitter by Fnatic’s former analyst John Paolo Bago Gonzales and in the comments thread Kuku mentioned that the stack is formed just to “play for fun.”
While Abed is still under contract with Evil Geniuses, but can’t compete with his team in the online tournaments on either the NA or the Europe servers due to high ping, the rest of the players are free agents and the Among US line-up might very well be the beginning of a new high calibre competitor in SEA.
Jabz was released from Fnatic just yesterday, on September 9 after being the captain of the team for about two years. 23savege was the first who got replaced in the Fnatic roster this year, being released from duties at the end of July, when Marc “Raven” Fausto was recruited from Geek Fam.
There is a rather strong connection between all five players as all of them have at some point played with each other over the past year. Abed has a hefty amount of experience playing with Jabz in the Fnatic jersey. So does 23savage, although he was not on the same Fnatic roster with Abed. Most recently, Kuku and Whitemon have also got to tune their strategies and gameplay around Abed who stood in for Geek Fam at ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia.
The Among Us announcement hints at a third season of BTS PRO Series: SEA, however, Beyond the Summit are yet to make an official announcement for the event and about the directly invited.
